Citizens of eligible countries who are traveling to the UK for tourism, business, study (for up to 6 months), or transit can apply for a UK ETA. You must have a valid biometric passport, a digital passport photo, and an active email address to complete the application.
UK and Irish citizens do not need an ETA to enter the UK. Additionally, travelers who already hold a valid UK visa, a residence permit, or another immigration status allowing them to enter the UK do not need to apply for an ETA.
Most UK ETA applications are processed within 1 to 3 business days. However, in some cases, processing may take longer if additional checks are required. It is recommended to apply well in advance of your planned travel date.
The UK ETA is valid for 2 years from the date of approval or until your passport expires—whichever comes first. During this period, you can use the ETA to enter the UK multiple times for short stays of up to 6 months per visit, depending on your reason for travel.
